Extraordinary knowing refers to a group of phenomena, some of which are commonly experienced by nearly every human being. There are many modes in which extraordinary know is manifested, from ubiquitous intuitions, premonitions, and 'prophetic' dreams to more inexplicable effects of consciousness on physical systems, clairvoyance (remote viewing), near-death and out-of-body experiences, and remembrance of 'past lives.'
In recent decades, more than 3,000 scientific studies and investigations have been conducted in an attempt to determine and explain the nature and scope of these extraordinary phenomena. The implications of research findings and the accompanying theoretical and technical work are serving as the foundation of an emerging worldview that differs, radically, from the 400-year-old materialist, reductionist, mechanical worldview still prevalent, today. In the new worldview, consciousness is fundamental and central: Mind and consciousness seemingly precede energy and matter, rather than being the product of a functioning brain. As a consequence, the divide between science and spirituality is beginning to close.
