What is Remote Viewing?
Remote viewing is a mental faculty that allows a perceiver (a "viewer") to describe or give details about a target that is inaccessible to normal senses due to distance, time, or shielding. For example, a viewer might be asked to describe a location on the other side of the world, which he or she has never visited; or a viewer might describe an event that happened long ago; or describe an object sealed in a container or locked in a room; or perhaps even describe a person or an activity; all without being told anything about the target -- not even its name or designation. -- International Remote Viewing Association
Remote viewing is a mode of non-local awareness that each of us has, to varying degrees, just as each of us has some degree of musical ability (even if some of us can only, barely hum a tune).
With practice, nearly everyone of us can improve his/her remote viewing skills.
On Tom's website you will find many links to online resources on:
Remote viewing research and applications,;
How to do remote viewing;
Practicing and Improving remote viewing skills; and
The history and practice of remote viewing.
Of course, there is an enormous amount more on remote viewing on the internet.; e.g., in early March, 2008, a Google search on 'remote viewing' netted 4,620,000 hits!
Here is the trailer for the media package, "The PEAR Proposition." The PEAR Synopsis, of which the trailer is a part, will be presented in class.
Note: The trailer is larger (16+mb) and may be opened or downloaded for viewing in your system's default MPG program, e.g., Windows Media Player.
PEAR Project Implications A summary of the practical (pragmatic applications), intellectual (enhancement of basic science), and spiritual (cultural) implications of the findings of the PEAR Project.
The Global Consciousness Project, (GCP) also called the EGG Project, is a
long-running science experiment maintained by an international collaboration
of about 100 research scientists and engineers. It is based on technology
developed at Princeton to study interactions of consciousness with physical
systems. The GCP has been collecting data from a global network of random
event generators since August, 1998.

The Intention Experiment is a series of scientifically controlled, web-based experiments testing the power of intention to change the physical world.
Learn about this ongoing, worldwide project in which you can participate at, here.
What does it take to create intention? Attention ,which we are said we lose 6-8 times a minute, is essential to creating intention, so what do we do beside becoming a saffron-robed Tibetan monk?
The Institute of Noetic Sciences has an ongoing project on distant healing with articles, research bibliography, resource links, media library and more.
Larry Dossey, M.D., and Stephan A. Schwartz, Ph.D. compiled a bibliography on remote therapeutic intent and healing.
A substantial amount of research has been conducted in recent years on the effectiveness of prayer. Here are some relatively recent headlines:
Largest Study of Third-Party Prayer Suggests Prayer Not Effective In Reducing Complications Following Heart Surgery
Don't Give Up on Prayer as an Aid to Healing
Here is a 2002 WIRED magazine article on a landmark research study of prayer:
A Prayer Before Dying -The astonishing story of a doctor who subjected faith to the rigors of science - and then became a test subject herself. [Note: The doctor was Elizabeth Targ, a psychiatrist, the daughter of the SRI remote viewing researcher, Russell Targ, and a gifted remote viewer.]
The research results showed that the subjects who were not prayed for spent 600 percent more days in the hospital. They contracted 300 percent as many AIDS-related illnesses.
William Tiller explains how the power of Intention alters matter and the limitless power of Zero Point Energy (the energy in what we call the vacuum).

"...what's the difference between mom's chicken soup and the same ingredients out of a can? Mom's chicken soup feels a lot better to me than the same stuff out of a can and so maybe we can think of intention as a kind of ingredient in the food. In this case it wasn't just the intention but it's love. Is love something like an ingredient? Well, chefs in fancy restaurants don't normally think of love, I think, as part of their job, but I think they do pay attention to intention while cooking because they have a sense that people respond differently depending on what's going on in the kitchen." more...Dean Radin Interview
Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS) research has led to the development of a new kind of intentional chocolate that makes positive intentions an actual ingredient - with real mood-enhancing effects on those who eat it.

Coherence in Nature and in Mind
In 1965 John Bell offered a set of mathematical proofs for the non-local nature of the universe by demonstrating "that particles need not share the same local region of space to be intimately interconnected." (Bohm, David. Wholeness and the Implicate Order, p. 14 )
"A universe that displays local phenomena built on nonlocal reality is the only sort of world consistent with known facts and Bell's proof." (Bohm, p. 15)

Read
a review of the 800-page book,
Irreducible Mind, a 'review of the
literature' upon which this week's presentation is based.
[a .pdf document]
Irreducible Mind is a comprehensive review and critique of the history, theories and research of Mind, providing ample empirical evidence for the thesis "that the materialistic consensus that undergirds practically all of current mainstream psychology, neuroscience, and philosophy of mind is fundamentally flawed." (p. xiii)
Hear an
interview with Edward & Emily Kelly about
Irreducible Mind.
Given the accumulated evidence, the inevitable conclusion is that mind extends beyond the brain, that the brain is more analogous to a filter or receiver than to a computer, and that mind can change the structure of the brain.
